World Class Volleyball Set Against a Perfect Backdrop

It was the perfect tournament. The crowd cheered enthusiastically, the players gave their best, and there was no lack of celebrities. With a 93,000 strong audience, this year's Beach Volleyball A1 Grand Slam Tournament in Klagenfurt, Austria, proved to be a top-level sporting event. Top beach volleyball players such as Clemens Doppler delivered exciting games and ensured maximum audience capacities despite the weather - rain on every day of the tournament. The A1 Grand Slam is ranked as the number one tournament within the world of volleyball amongst players, and for the inhabitants of Carinthia the fourday event has almost added a fifth season to their year - even though the title was won by two Americans this year. A top-notch event on this scale attracts celebrities, and apart from local VIPs, the organisers also welcomed Cora Schumacher, wife of the former Formula One World Champion, and the German musician Udo Jürgens.
