uMI 550 – a new era in mobile PET/CT imaging

United Imaging is pleased to announce the installation of their uMI 550 mobile system in Germany.

Starting in September, Alliance Medical Northern Europe (part of the Alliance Medical Group) will be using the manufacturer’s advanced imaging technology to facilitate access to the highest quality diagnostic services for their patients. Germany is now the second country in Europe where the company's technology solutions for mobile diagnostics are being implemented, confirming customer confidence in the products of United Imaging and their reliability.

Alliance Medical is one of Europe’s leading independent provider of imaging services, operating over 220 facilities across multiple countries with offices in the UK, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Austria and Spain. Established in 1989, Alliance Medical has enjoyed rapid growth based on a proven, scalable business model, exceptional service, outstanding value for money, and technical excellence.

Alliance Medical has chosen the uMI 550 mobile digital PET/CT system to further enhance its extensive mobile diagnostic capabilities. This deployment represents a significant advancement in the availability of high-quality imaging services, especially in areas with limited access to advanced medical equipment.

A key differentiator for Alliance Medical is their ability to support PET/CT scanning not only with state-of-the-art imaging equipment but also through the production and distribution of radiopharmaceuticals. They operate a network of radioactive isotope production facilities and an integrated radiopharmacy distribution channel across Europe, ensuring a reliable supply of radiopharmaceuticals, which are vital components in delivering integrated care pathways.

The uMI 550 mobile PET-CT system from United Imaging sets new standards in medical imaging with its state-of-the-art digital PET detector, integrated fiber optics, and an innovative 80-layer CT scanner equipped with a cutting-edge Z-detector. The system also incorporates AI-based image analysis solutions that enhance diagnostic accuracy. Notably, the uMI 550 offers exceptional image resolution through advanced iterative reconstruction techniques, providing an effective spatial resolution of 1.4 mm. This allows clinicians to accurately reproduce the finest anatomical details, aiding in the diagnosis of even the most complex cases.

Designed for comprehensive diagnostics, the uMI 550 supports a wide range of imaging protocols and techniques, making it an indispensable tool for oncology, cardiology, neurology and other medical fields where high quality, accurate PET/CT imaging is critical. The system also emphasizes patient safety, delivering high-quality images with minimal radiation dose.

With the deployment of the uMI 550 mobile system, Alliance Medical will be able to deliver advanced diagnostic imaging services to areas where they are needed most, particularly in rural and remote regions with limited access to medical facilities. This partnership will also support hospitals and clinics that are overwhelmed during periods of increased demand for diagnostic services, enabling them to maintain high standards of care.
