Endoscope receives balloon control upgrade
Fujifilm Healthcare Europe has announced a new upgrade for its EN-840T therapeutic double balloon enteroscope. The upgrade enables single-switch control of the PB-30 balloon control unit directly from the endoscope during double-balloon enteroscopy (DBE) procedures. The upgrade is now available in Europe.

The upgrade is compatible with Fujifilm's Eluxeo 8000 system.
The EN-840T upgrade allows endoscopists to operate the PB-30 balloon control unit using the endoscope itself while connected to the Eluxeo 8000 processor during DBE procedures.
Using the switch on the EN-840T endoscope, operators can inflate and deflate the balloon on the endoscope and overtube while controlling balloon pressure. The control unit error buzzer can also be stopped via the endoscope. Previously, these functions were controlled independently via the PB-30 control unit. The upgrade now enables operation directly from the endoscope.
Additionally, the EN-840T endoscope displays the status of the balloon and other connected devices on the endoscope screen, reducing the need to interrupt procedures to check balloon control.
"This is an excellent upgrade," says Prof. Edward John Despott, from Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, UK. "Endoscopists sometimes ask someone else to press the control button for the PB-30, which can lead to mistakes. This feature helps avoid such errors, making examinations more efficient and reducing examination time."
