Systems soar to China

100 mobile X-ray systems and 200 respiratory systems were offered to the People’s Republic of China by Siemens Medical Solutions (Med) and Lufthansa cargo offered to deliver them free of charge, to help the country to combat the Sars outbreak. Both companies worked closely with the Ministry for Economic Co-operation and Development, which is led by Heidemarie Wieczorek-Zeul, who said: ‘The strong commitment shown to the people of Asia by Lufthansa Cargo and Siemens is commendable. They deserve a lot of credit.’

The delivery was accepted in Beijing by a delegation from the German embassy, which officially handed over the systems to members of the Chinese Ministry of Finance for distribution to Beijing hospitals. The Schenker Logistics Company sponsored and co-ordinated local deliveries in China.
