Shaping the future of medical imaging
For Esaote, a leading Italian innovator in medical imaging - ultrasound, dedicated magnetic resonance and medical IT - the mission is to develop new technologies that can help advance diagnosis and improve patient care.
Esaote has always leveraged continuous innovation as the key driver of its business strategy. This approach is embodied in its three business areas: central to Esaote’s commitment to innovation is the use of cutting-edge software, including artificial intelligence (AI), to create interconnected solutions that add value for healthcare professionals and improve the patient experience.

Franco Fontana, CEO of Esaote, emphasized the company’s dedication to technological evolution: “Innovation is at the heart of our strategies. Today, all three areas—ultrasound, MRI, and healthcare IT—share a common backbone, which is software: the application of advanced clinical software and, of course, artificial intelligence”. This innovative spirit is the result of continuous investment in R&D, which has increased over the past five years and now represents approximately 13% of Esaote’s annual revenues, well above the industry average.
The recent European Congress of Radiology provided an ideal platform for the company to highlight its advancements in medical imaging technologies. Esaote’s vision of integrating software applications, artificial intelligence, and cloud-based solutions was on full display, reinforcing its commitment to reducing complexity and improving efficiency in healthcare. Esaote’s goal is clear: to integrate modalities with greater connectivity, mobility, and software applications that deliver tremendous value to both healthcare providers and patients.
Esaote’s AI technology is now integrated into a variety of clinical solutions: by optimizing workflows, reducing exam times and improving image quality, this technology empowers clinicians to make faster, data-driven decisions with heightened confidence.

Esaote’s entire portfolio of ultrasound systems, starting with the flagship MyLab™X90 and the newborn MyLab™E80, were featured as key examples of the company’s innovation. These cart-based ultrasound systems have proven to be very successful in the market and reflect Esaote’s ongoing efforts to combine Italian design with cutting-edge functionality. This year, Esaote expanded its portfolio with the introduction of two portable models from the compact C-series. These new additions reaffirm Esaote’s focus on improving mobility, connectivity, and usability while delivering high-quality imaging for a wide range of applications.
Esaote’s application of AI to MRI technology marks a significant milestone in the field of medical imaging. The company introduced its AI platform, “e-SPADES”, developed in collaboration with the Amsterdam University Medical Center and AIRS Medical. This platform aims to revolutionize MRI by reducing scan times by up to 60% while maintaining unparalleled image quality.
Franco described this breakthrough as a major step forward: “With an open and dedicated MRI, one of the issues has always been the bridge between image quality and scan time. Today, we are confident that Esaote can offer an ideal solution to solve this equation”. The integration of AI into MRI systems allows for more efficient and faster imaging without compromising diagnostic accuracy. This technological leap not only demonstrates Esaote’s commitment to innovation, but is also a powerful tool for clinicians to improve both workflow and patient care.
In all of our solutions, we go beyond simple diagnosis to include therapy and follow-up

In the medical IT field, the state of the art is being advanced with SUITESTENSA ZEfiRO, the new zero-footprint platform for image viewing and reporting: a cloud-native system that embeds tens of AI-based clinical packages to provide healthcare professionals with secure access to diagnostic imaging from any device.
As a global player, Esaote continues to strengthen its position in key markets, including North America, China, and Western Europe, while actively pursuing new opportunities in emerging markets. In 2024, the company opened a new factory in India, which will allow it to better serve the rapidly growing local market. Furthermore, Esaote recently established a subsidiary in Poland with the aim of expanding its presence in Eastern Europe and offering high-quality solutions to a broader range of healthcare providers.
Esaote’s commitment to providing more than just diagnostic support is evident in its broader vision for healthcare. As Franco noted, “In all of our solutions, we go beyond simple diagnosis to include therapy and follow-up”. The company’s focus on interventional applications and image-guided therapies exemplifies this broader approach, where Esaote aims at supporting diagnosis as well as treatment and improving overall healthcare outcomes.
