Led by the Luxembourgish government, SATMED is a multi-layer platform which allows multiple medical applications to operate together on a single platform. Through its connection to the Emergency.lu platform, site-independent satellite internet connectivity can be established worldwide, providing e-Health infrastructure in rural and poorly connected areas.

The e-Health platform overcomes many of the obstacles faced in the e-Health environment, including poor connectivity, lack of Interoperability between applications and economic factors, such as the cost of deployment and implementation, by integrating e-Health applications and tools into one single access communications platform.

SATMED was designed under the principles of simplicity, availability and accessibility and provides three major services:

1.     Open-access e-health and m-health tools that are integrated in one comprehensive platform. A single login provides access to a complete range of e-health applications: e-care (consultancy, patient record, PACS), e-learning, e-health management and financing.

2.     Cloud services that support data management and data backup needs.

3.     Satellite-enhanced internet service for areas where internet access is not available.

The value of SATMED is already being proven. In Sierra Leone, the platform has been used as a communication tool between the region's doctors and off-site doctors in Germany to exchange essential knowledge and expertise.

Other NGO partners' locations are currently being rolled out in Benin, Eritrea, Bangladesh and the Philippines.

To learn more about the capabilities of this platform and to see a live demonstration, please visit us at Med-eTel, taking place at the Luxexpo exhibition & conference center from April 22 to April 24.
