A fitness checkup for healthcare IT

Two Hitachi bundles, Discovery and start-up, which are currently only available in Germany, have been produced to enable more effective
storage management. ‘Specialised consulting packages help medical facilities to achieve a reduction of costs caused by the deployment
of more data-intensive diagnostic technologies or archiving regulations,’ the firm explains.

The goal of these two- and five-day consulting sessions is to obtain a clear overview of the existing storage environment’s current capabilities as well as its workload, and to derive recommendations for optimisation.

The Discovery bundle: A fitness check for the memory

The fitness check consists of a two-day consulting session on site, delivered by Hitachi Data Systems Global Solution Services specialists. ‘It includes the Infrastructure Assessment Service and the Configuration Health Check: The first step is to analyse the entire existing storage environment and its performance. The check is made
complete by the performance test and the consulting service, including the evaluation of existing risks. The result will be to elaborate recommendations on how to make better use of the storage infrastructure in order to avoid critical bottlenecks in the storage environment. In this way, compliance with service levels agreements (SLAs) can be ensured,’ Hitachi reports.

The Start-up bundle: A fitness programme for the storage infrastructure

The bundle’s focus is on the implementation services. ‘When customers purchase a Hitachi Solution, Hitachi Data Systems will install the respective device and the software customers will receive customised implementation into the existing infrastructure, according to their individual needs. For this purpose, Hitachi uses a five-day consulting session to analyse the entire existing IT environment. The goal is to design the infrastructure from scratch in order to minimise both IT costs and risks. These measures will be implemented in a “real world” environment - this allows IT managers to develop and test their storage optimisations under “live” conditions. Additional key aspects of the start-up bundle are the protection of critical data, and recovery.’

Dennis Frank, Sales Manager for Healthcare at Hitachi Data Systems, added: ‘Our service strategy is specifically designed to provide tailored support to healthcare clinics and facilities in the optimisation of their storage system. Effective storage is the basis of successful data administration. The efficient utilisation of existing structures significantly boosts the performance of IT departments.’
