TruLight 5520

The first theatre light that ‘Thinks for itself’

TruLight 5520 - the world’s first operating theatre (OT) light to provide the ‘adaptive light control plus’ function – is being presented at Medica by Trumpf Medical Systems.

Optimal lighting intensity – The new TruLight 5520 OT light automatically adapts illumination to provide perfect lighting during each phase of a surgical procedure. At the beginning of the operation, the surgeon simply adjusts his/her ideal lighting intensity, and even if the light is moved at any time, the light maintains that pre-set illumination; the surgeon or assistant does not have to readjust the light settings. This is particularly advantageous during operations in the stomach region, because this area often requires lights to be repositioned or refocused during operations.

Easy patient positioning – Trumpf’s new extension unit for the most diverse orthopaedic procedures on the lower extremities is also on show. The MIS hip set allows nurses to comfortably, yet flexibly, position a patient's leg for minimally invasive hip procedures. The company developed the new extension unit in cooperation with positioning specialists, orthopaedic and trauma specialists, particularly for the growing number of minimally invasive surgery (MIS) procedures.

‘The TruLight 5520 with adaptive light control plus and the new MIS hip set are examples of the company's new, innovative products. But Trumpf has much more than these to share at its completely redesigned booth,’ the firm reports. ‘It will also highlight, among others, forward-looking HD technologies in OT LED cameras and demonstrate as-yet-unpublished findings on OT table cushions and positioning aids.’
The Trumpf booth will also hold lectures and provide information on hybrid OTs as well as host an open discussion on the company’s prototypes of potential products that can improve hospital efficiency and economy in the future. Medica not only provides a showcase for its products and meet customers, Dr Kordt Griepenkerl, Managing Director of Trumpf Medical Systems pointed out. ‘It also allows us to customise our solutions so that they give doctors and nurses the reliable support they need to lighten their daily workloads.’
