Secure mobile PC trolley for POC activity
The PC-Cart, recently introduced by Devlin Electronics, is a mobile computing trolley specifically designed for hospitals and care centres. ‘As with all Devlin mobile computer solutions this PC-Cart is designed to be rugged, ergonomic and easily manoeuvrable,’ the manufacturer points out.
The battery has a hi-tech charger mounted at the front, which provides a running time of about 6-8 hours between charging. ‘The intelligent battery system is also designed to protect itself from improper use that could lead to damage and downtime while the battery is repaired or replaced,’ Devlin adds. The lockable PC cabinet at the rear of the trolley protects from theft or damage, but users can access power switches, CD/DVD drives and cable connections. ‘As with other mobile computer carts from Devlin, the rear panel can be customised to include; printers, scanners, a lockable storage box or a document tray.’
Hygiene – As far as possible, all the trolley surfaces are smooth, for easy cleaning. It also has a disinfectant gel dispenser for user use. An optional offering is the Devlin CleanKey infection control keyboard and mouse.
Devlin Electronics has designed and manufactured custom keyboards and innovative electromechanical components for 30 years. In 2004, the company took over the European distribution of US firm Datalux mobile computing products. This resulted in exploration of new markets, supplying mobile trolley mounted PC’s for healthcare applications, in-vehicle computer systems and a number of industrial monitors and compact PC’s. The firm then produced the Devlin L-Cart, a trolley mounted lockable laptop enclosure designed to allow the mobile deployment of laptops without fear of damage or theft. It also developed the CleanKey range of infection control peripherals and a washable keyboard etc. Martin Baker, Devlin Electronics managing director, said: ‘Never before has such great importance been placed on IT within the healthcare environment. The Devlin Mobile Computing range empowers clinicians at the point-of-care.’
