The combined solution, suitable for all areas of the health care sector, is based on Hitachi’s flagship hardware archiving solution, the Hitachi Content Archive Platform (HCAP) and d.3, the document management software (DMS) offered by d.velop.

“Nowadays clinical institutions are faced with the increasing challenge of connecting documents from different medical information systems; some digital, some paper, and trying to consolidate them into one place,” said Dennis Frank, Health Care Manager, Hitachi Data Systems. “d.3 and HCAP offer a solution which provides economic and organizational benefits, with immediate access to the storage platform and by the comprehensive management of documents.”

Document management at hospitals
Hitachi Data Systems and d.velop guarantee secure archiving of all information and documents in a repository (enterprise content management system). The solution helps hospitals handle sensitive data that need to be archived for legal reasons.

“Although electronic documents are now commonplace on the health care sector, the key issue is interoperability", said Markus Heitkamp, Business Unit Manager Healthcare at d.velop. “Not only do documents need to be compatible, they also need to be easily accessible and compliant, which includes files being long-lasting even as systems are updated. The document management solution d.3 combined with Hitachi Data Systems’ HCAP meets the requirements.”

Digital active storage with d.3 and HCAP
A digital active storage is the essential foundation for the optimization of a document-based workflow. As a central repository it generates the collective pool for revision-safe administrative management of all pieces of corporate information. The solution from d.3 and HCAP provides a fast and effective tracking of data which supports health personnel to get the information they need in the case of an emergency. It also helps to meet requirements of legal retention time and to meet deadlines for the elimination of data after the end of a term. Furthermore the access to the system can be accessed and managed in a remote way, with limited administrative input.
