Montpellier CHRU installs ORBIS

Agfa HealthCare announced that it has signed an agreement with Montpellier CHRU for the installation of its leading Hospital/Clinical Information System (HIS/CIS) ORBIS across its seven facilities.

Montpellier CHRU is one of France's leading care facilities with seven institutions providing a full spectrum of healthcare. As an academic hospital, it provides critical care, teaching and research services. It is the country's fifth largest University Hospital and has 3,000 beds.

Montpellier CHRU employs 9000 staff members. CHRU is a key healthcare player in France, with an international reputation, it ranks fourth in the Le Point 2005-2009 overview of leading facilities in France and ranked 7th in the AERES (Agence d'évaluation de la recherche et de l'enseignement supérieur) 2009 rankings for its medical research capabilities.

Under the terms of this agreement, the Montpellier CHRU will become the showcase in France for Agfa HealthCare's patient information solutions and will be a key reference site. "This new agreement and the partnership are of strategic importance to Agfa HealthCare, not only on the national level but, thanks to the prominence of the CHRU, on an international level as well," says Philippe Blanco, Managing Director of Agfa HealthCare France.

Agfa HealthCare's ORBIS patient information system will enable information exchanges in real time between all specialists and nursing staff involved throughout the patient care process. The introduction of the solution is part of a larger project to further streamline and improve the facilities' operations. The project foresees the use of some of the most powerful business intelligence tools to achieve this. This solution (ORBIS), customized for data traceability and collection (formalization and analysis of protocols), will also allow the Montpellier CHRU to develop medical research.

"We will increase the efficiency of the Montpellier CHRU through more rigorous management of our healthcare provision. Our partnership with Agfa HealthCare is therefore truly strategic," states Mr. Manville, Managing Director of the Montpellier CHRU.
