Medical Technologies Map of European Regions and Clusters

MediMap is an innovative Internet portal developed in the framework of an EU project with partners from eight countries. The aim is to encourage an exchange of experience between European regions and to initiate and facilitate partnerships and business relationships throughout Europe for scientific organisations and enterprises in the medical technology sector.

The heart of MediMap: the map-based search
The heart of MediMap: the map-based search

]MediMap offers a highly efficient method of identifying potential partners which is unique to date in Europe. The user can select areas of medical technology (product categories) for which he is seeking potential partners. MediMap produces an optical hit list which is presented as regions marked green in a map of Europe (see figure).

The user can zoom in on this map to refine and focus his regional selection. With the next click of the mouse he can produce a results list which features all current players who correspond to his search profile and who are located in the selected regions.

The results list provides a wealth of information which the user can process in various ways depending on his specific requirements. In particular he has access to all the profiles of the players listed and can thus obtain detailed information about their product and/or service offer (complemented by graphical information in a separate pdf file). The contact data of all players are provided.

If partner search is not the priority, MediMap also offers an excellent platform beyond the entrepreneurial sector for an organisation to present itself, to support its own marketing or for observing the competition etc.

Thus MediMap – in addition to manufacturers, suppliers and service providers in the area of medical technology - also addresses universities, research institutions, hospitals and clinics as well as clusters, networks, initiatives, technology centres and incubators. And regional development agencies, economic development bodies and similar institutions will also come to appreciate MediMap for the opportunity it offers to intensify an exchange of experience with other regions in Europe via a regional profile which they can place on the MediMap platform.

Registration is necessary in order to be able to use MediMap. MediMap offers two types of membership:

- Standard Membership (free of charge) and

- Premium Membership (for which there is a fee).

Standard Members enter a profile of their organisation (however without any logo or graphical information) and can only access the contact data of searched profiles, but they have full access to the medical technology profiles of the EU technology transfer database.

Premium Members, on the other hand, have a complete profile and unrestricted access to the entire system. They can use the "Marketplace" area of their profile to define specific offers or enquiries about products, services, technologies or for partner search, e.g. for EU projects under FP7. They can also choose personalised services via keywords (e.g. new members, new technological developments) which they then regularly receive via email.

The annual fee for a Premium Membership depends on the number of employees and ranges from 100 to 600 Euro. Non-enterprise institutions all pay the same flat-rate fee of 300 Euro.
