The entire OR workflow at your fingertips

Rein Medical presents a selection of its portfolio at Medica

The Medica in Düsseldorf once again solidified its status as one of the largest medical trade fairs worldwide this year. More than 5,300 exhibitors were pleased to welcome around 83,000 visitors from 166 countries. "We, too, utilized the fair for exchanges, especially with international partners and customers. In addition to interesting conversations, we take away some inspiration for further innovations," states Stephan Rein, Managing Director at Rein Medical, giving a positive summary of Medica 2023. "Furthermore, our new General Manager from the Middle East attended this event on our behalf for the first time."

The Clinio series all-in-one PCs were also on display in Düsseldorf

Rein Medical, as co-exhibitor with Dr. Mach GmbH & Co. KG, focused on diverse solutions for optimizing workflows in the operating room. "With the monitors and all-in-one PCs from the Operion and Clinio series, as well as the Smart OR software, we offer tailored solutions for every requirement and accompany customers from planning to handover. We were delighted with the many personal conversations at the booth in Düsseldorf," says Rein. "Unfortunately, the major players in the medical industry were absent as magnets, resulting in limited representation of our German customers."

Everything in view

For many years, Operion has been synonymous with wall-integrated monitors and workstations for the operating room – hygienic, highly compatible, reliable and intuitive to operate. Available in various sizes from 21.5 to 65 inches, they transform every OR into a digital performance centre. The monitors can now be found in more than 6,500 operating rooms worldwide, 60 per cent of which have integrated PC units.

Operion wall monitors and workstations fit perfectly into any operating room: in new builds as well as when renovating existing ORs. In ORs with a modular wall system, the Operion can be installed flush-mounted and thus fully and hygienically integrated as part of the wall system. This design is the most hygienic and cost-efficient monitor integration. If only surface mounting is possible, high-quality solid aluminium housings ensure that the installation is secure. Since the frames and surface-mounted housings are coated with a special germicidal powder coating, they can be cleaned easily and hygienically.

Operion systems are certified as Class I medical devices and offer appropriate device safety for use in the patient environment.

Brilliance is key

The Clinio monitor is also a Class I medical device in accordance with MDR and boasts great flexibility in terms of input formats while offering special colour and image properties.

The Clinio is the perfect surgical monitor. It features low energy consumption and a compact design. The brilliant image quality and optimum colour reproduction are provided by a factory 3D LUT calibration for DICOM, BT.709, BT.1886 and BT.2020. It is available in UHD in 27 and 32-inch sizes.

The robust housing is made entirely of aluminium. The hygienic flap and various cable seals prevent dust, dirt and liquids from entering. The IP54-protected housing is coated with a germicidal powder coating, is sealed all round and can be hygienically disinfected.

Control over the entire information flow in the OR

The Smart OR Software Suite offers a wide range of useful features for the operating room, such as data documentation, distribution, archiving or even audio and video streaming

If images and videos need to be distributed, recorded and managed in the OR or beyond, Smart OR is the right solution: from documenting image and audio data from local sources at a single workstation to image distribution, archiving and streaming in complex networks.

In addition to routing and intra-room signal distribution, the solution also includes encoding and allows media content to be streamed quickly and with optimised bandwidth within the IT network. This is complemented by comprehensive signal management with network-wide availability. Smart OR can also conveniently document individual images as well as video and audio sequences for each patient and procedure. Devices and information systems can be connected via established standards such as HL7 and DICOM. The targeted control of environment components and workflows allows videos and images to be streamed and edited throughout the hospital and patients to be assigned directly.

Together with its partner Dr. Mach, Rein Medical demonstrated how a surgical light with an integrated 4K camera can be incorporated into the Smart OR signal management system.
